Dr Jennifer i. james

Dr. James was born in Alaska and raised in Long Beach, California. She moved to Oklahoma with her two children to pursue her dream of becoming a physician. She earned her medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean and completed the OU Family Medicine Residency Program in 2015. Since then, Dr. James has proudly served the community in Lawton, Oklahoma in a variety of clinical and leadership roles at Southwestern Medical Center Hospital. In addition to practicing family medicine, she has served as Medical Director and Supervising Physician for the Wound Care Clinic and Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, as well as Medical Director for local home health and hospice organizations. Her passion for improving patient care has also led her to serve on the hospital’s Board of Trustees, where she held the roles of Chair of Medicine, Vice Chief of Staff, and Chief of Staff. She has also been an active member of the Peer Review Committee and Medical Executive Committee, helping guide quality and excellence in healthcare throughout the community. After years of caring for patients and serving the community she loves, Dr. James realized her dream of opening a practice where patients could receive personalized, compassionate healthcare in a welcoming environment. Dr. James believes every patient deserves to be heard, respected, and treated as an individual—not just a diagnosis. Whether you’re visiting for preventive care, managing a chronic condition, or navigating a new health concern, her goal is to provide thoughtful, evidence-based care while building lasting relationships with every patient and family she serves.
